Do brake lights activate with regen braking?

I've tried to verify that the brake lights go on when letting off the accelerator with either level 1, 2 or 3 regen set, but have found they do not. It was not a good test as it was on level, gravel and slow conditions. But even in level 3 the usual and obvious resistance was felt when letting off a...

Re: 300+ mile range on my Kona EV

DRIVAEV, thank you for the information. ...The Kona provides instantaneous kwh use by 4 categories- powertrain, climate control, electronics, and battery maintenance. It's also provides a cumulative percent of total for these same categories, but only for the trip... [/i]So, do we get a reading in ...

Re: 300+ mile range on my Kona EV

The latest trip I referred to above included 40 some miles of relatively steep mountain highway with abunch of switchbacks. The downhill return proved the value of regen level 1, but I still found myself dropping to zero occasionally to take full advantage of gravity. My speeds were still reasonable...

Re: 300+ mile range on my Kona EV

Sorry, not answering your question, but I hope other Kona EV drivers respond. DRIVAEV, thanks for the numbers. I appreciate your taking the time to record the data. Yes, it is always necessary to clarify that the only true measure of overall vehicle consumption is wall-to-wheels (not battery-to-whe...

Consumer Reports finally completed review/rating

As I suspected, The Kona EV is at the top in its class, although the Prius has the same overall rating (78). Chevy Bolt is a somewhat distant 3rd (71). However, looking at the individual ratings by subject, there seems to be some discrepancies. https://www.consumerreports.org/cars/types/new/hybrids-...

300+ mile range on my Kona EV

I recently saw a 303 mile range on the dash display after charging to 100%. I was pleasantly surprised, but wary of the accuracy of this value. My normal charge/discharge regime is 80/40, but preparing for an extended trip I charged to 100% just before leaving. I planned to charge 2-3 hours during t...

Re: Automatic door lock when in shift into drive or 9 mph

The disable auto lock is NOT a option in settings, but interestingly, the disable auto UNlock IS an option. The only options I can choose from for auto lock are "at shift" and "at speed". I have a SEL. Maybe it's different for the Limited or Ultimate. I disabled auto unlock and would also like to di...

Re: Liftgate open display stuck, speedometer screen blank

I also checked the aux battery voltage when I got home. It was good at 13.4 volts. Late yesterday I disconnected both cables on the aux battery. Let it set for about 10 minutes. Upon reconnecting, the previously froze liftgate open display disappeared and both the LCD and speedometer screen reset to...

Liftgate open display stuck, speedometer screen blank

Anyone else have a problem with the liftgate open display on the small LCD screen in the dash stay on even when power is off? When this was initially displayed on the LCD screen and the vehicle was powered on, all info in the digital speedometer screen was blank. The small LCD display is stuck and t...

OBD2 app for system data

Is anyone using one of the available apps like Torque Pro, Auto.Pi, etc to obtain detailed system data on their Kona EV? I'd like to obtain current info on battery condition beyond what the vehicle provides on-screen. Information on battery/cell voltage, temperature, kwhs used between charges, kwhs ...
